1. I'm in college, class is getting out. I seem to have a lot of stuff to pack into my backpack, but I get it all in. I'm the last one out. The hallway is open air (on the side of the building, so I can look down and see where I will walk to go "home"). It kind of looks like UW campus...but it's also a lot like the embassy district in Tokyo. The building I'm in is very much like an apartement building there. As usual, I have no idea where to go, but start walking purposefully anyway.
2. (Last of the morning) In a house (grandparents') meant to be mine. Kind of confusing, sometimes I'm in the story, sometimes I'm "watching a movie". I work with a group of soldiers who are out on an op while I'm running the "base". There's voice over talking about the wife of one of the men. She has an accident while he's away on this mission and lands in the hospital. We see a very fat woman just out of the shower, wrapped in a towel, she goes to answer the phone or something, sits on a rolling chair, but overbalances and falls out of the frame. She hits hard and we only see her feet in frame.
The men return and the husband of the injured woman seems depressed. He's just found out that his wife has been in hospital pretty much the whole time he was gone. He goes in to the back yard and I follow him out onto the pool deck (the Stockton house pool, which in this dream is mostly full). The guys are concerned, but I tell them I'll help him.
"I have something for you." he says, pulling something out of his pocket. It's a novel by one of my favorite fantasy writers! He then climbs into the pool to sit half-submerged on the steps. There is a school of small fish in the pool, and one large squid (its head must be 5' long!). I don't like the squid, but I'm not too worried about it. I climb down into the water, sit behind him and put my arms around him. "I have something for you, too." I put my hand to my mouth and "cough up" an "energy ball" to transfer some of my ability to breathe water to him. I put it to his mouth and say "Just suck it in." He does, and slips under the water. I follow, and the big squid jets over to him.
It looks like he wants to touch it, so I glide over and hold my hand out in a warding gesture, "No! Go back!" The squid retreats. "You don't want to play with that! He has a huge beak...he'll take your hand right off!" I warn. It's so pleasant under the water... I wake up.

1. Seems positive, like I'm about to make a decision.
2. House=my psychological "house" or mind. The soldiers could be parts of my personality or aspects of my life that I'm trying to manage. The featured soldier is probably my male/creative side. Is there a problem with my female side (accident and in hospital)? The soldier gives me a gift, and I give him something in return: tha ability to swim freely in my subconscious or creativity. There's a "monster" in there, but I protect him from it. One dream dictionary says that an octopus (there was no squid entry, but they're both cephalopods) may represent "mother" or "attachment to the mother". However, I don't feel smothered, or overly attached to my mom, and I don't really see her as a threat to my male/creative side. Hm...
