1. Early on I had a dream that involved the night sky. Probably prompted by the fact that when I went out last night for my usual romp with Gimli in the front yard, I noticed the almost full moon over the roof framed by the trees: very sharp, clear, and magical. In the dream the sky was full of stars, but there was a strange object orbiting the Earth. It had such a low albedo that it was totally dark, even this close to the Sun, and as it rapidly transited the sky it appeared as a huge (at least 2x the moon) circular hole in the stars that arced up from the horizon and passed overhead.
2. Much later, I dreamed that Gordon and I were travelling in England (yay!). We had shipped the Ford pickup over for some reason, and were driving it around over there. Of course, in my dream the country roads were all wide, USA-type two-laners w/ deep shoulders: no problem for the monster truck. I had to keep reminding Gordon to drive on the left side of the road. We were looking for a castle, and finally spotted a sign for one. We turned off onto a smaller road that led up a valley, and drove for awhile until I saw a grey stone edifice nestled across the valley at the foot of a wooded slope...wait, on second glance it was just a tangle of high-tension power line towers!? OK, around another curve, on a promontory to the left, a tiny, square castle w/ towers at the four corners. Slow down, you'll miss the turn! We burned past it.
Gordon seemed to be having trouble slowing down the truck. We were driving on the right again, and he pulled onto the gravelly shoulder. I thought he was going to turn around, but he just kept driving on the shoulder. Trying to use the gravel to slow us down? The gravel became coarser and coarser and pretty soon it was football-sized river rock! Ouch! Then we were going up a drive to a little hall or club of some kind. We stopped and went in. There seemed to be various activities going on in different meeting rooms: one was a dining hall full of octogenarians, the ladies wearing hats, eating at round tables. One was some kind of wedding reception. In a smaller room there was some kind of musical program: a nice combo with piano, cello, flute and harp. There were various harps around the stage, some with gut strings, some with wire, and at least one polished metal harp "strung" with wire so thick it was really bar stock. We didn't want to intrude and left, even though I wanted to try one of the harps.
We walked back down the hall and out to the truck. It was chilly and I had a wool muffler tied over my head like a shawl. I was wearing a wool plaid skirt. We drove back toward the little castle, only to blow by the turnoff again. We turned around again and we finally went up the drive and and parked. Now it looked more like a baronial manor than a castle. We went inside and it looked like the Rivendell interiors from the Peter Jackson movies! We met some other tourists, and they turned out to be people from my high school reunion! There was some renovation going on in the manor. In the great hall the stone floor had cracked in the middle. There was a "lozenge" motif there made of granite, and you could see dirt through the gaping cracks. It was going to be fixed. It was very gothic and academic looking, and there were books everywhere. I liked it. Nice view of the valley out the window, too.
3. Now we were in Hawaii. There was a big waterslide park in Honolulu. It was brand new and we happily went in. Gordon jumped into the shoot and dissapeared around the bend. It was almost horizontal. The sign said to wait 27 seconds between people, so I dutifully waited. Of course, a bunch of folks cut in front of me while I was waiting. I got in and the current was so strong I lost my foam pad. I bounced along over bumps and dips. The trough was elevated and now I was shooting along between the islands! Somebody had lost a pad, and I grabbed it as I went by and flopped on top: much better. I was trying to catch up with Gordon, but by the time I reached the end of this first phase he was long gone.
Now we were on the Big Island. I wandered confused through a huge building trying to find the way to the rest of the slides. The advertising on the walls promised waterfalls, and almost vertical chutes! It looked great, but I couldn't find my way in! I got in a long, snaking line that wound through concrete aisles that went floor to ceiling. This was too claustrophobic for me, and I finally broke out and went looking for another way. I made it outside and could see the outsides/backs of the slides, but still couldn't find a way in. I went back into the building and thought if I could find the changing/shower room, then that would lead through. I found the Men's, but the Women's proved elusive...
4. There was another dream where I was now driving the truck in England. Eventually I left it parked near some railroad tracks and went down a trail with some other people: a woman and a baby? The trail wound down a cut and along a cliff face high over some water. We were a mile or so along when I realized I'd left the truck parked IN the road instead of off it. "Don't worry, keep going." I said, I'll be right back. Instead of running up the trail, I ran to the rail and vaulted into space. I flew as fast as I could (it was hard to go fast for some reason) back to the truck and moved it off the road, then I flew back to my companions...
On another note: Gordon had an interesting dream night before last. He dreamed his ex-wife had totally white-tornadoed her house. The usual clutter was gone! It was almost spartan! She was preparing for a function honoring some dignitary, and for some reason she had glasses of ice water staged in the cupboards.
It seemed significant to both of us.
