Sunday 12th June - Black Cat: I was at Mom's house, outside. There were tree forts in the woods. Mom says, "I think I saw Whiskers (her black cat) out there!" The implication being that Whiskers had been missing for years. I climb up and find the cat. She's the size of a cougar and has panniers strapped to her back. The straps cross back and forth over her back and have been on so long that they've cut into her skin. We start to peel them off and the cut go right through the skin in places. "We need to get her to the vet." I can see that some of these are going to need stitches.
Monday 13th June: Another cruise ship dream. This time we're up in Alaska, only the landscape is brown and bare like Nevada. Leaving things too late on shore, I miss the boat. There's another lady on the pier who's also from the cruise, and she's very upset, "What are we going to do?!" I suggest we just pick up the boat at the next stop, but we're way up in Alaska and I'm not sure how we're going to get to the next stop!
Wednesday 15th June: Elaborate "novel" dream. Sometimes I'm reading, sometime watching, sometimes involved. 19th century romance novel. Society woman "Emma" is married to a bad guy. At a dinner party a mulatto woman bursts in and makes a scene (she's the bad husban's mistress, or has been). Husband chases her out. Emma turns to handsome and sympathetic man seated next to her. They fall in love and later have an affair. Chapter title "Emma's Crisis": she is pregnant. Somehow "Maia" (the mulatto) is causing a crisis for the husband, too. Emma is raped by her husband. He knows she despises him and he asks Maia "Why?" at some point. Maia tells him what a horrible lover he is and explains to him how to "please" a woman, but she does it in a nasty, ascivious, vindictive way. She's obviously not trying to help.
Thursday 16th June: LotR etc. I'm on a quest in Middle Earth with Aragorn and Boromir. We have to get to Rivendell and we're on a tight schedule. We've been on the road for days when we pass through a geologically "hot" area. I spot a rocky pool that seems to have an ingress like a spring at its bottom: it's really bubbling. I put my hand in the water and it's warm! I ask if we could stop for just a few minutes, because I would LOVE a bath! The guys agree. I let them go first. There's a river just down the slope a few yards, so I go to sit on a sandbar and watch the sun set. Now it seems like we've picked up a little girl. I'm not particularly happy about this, because it's going to slow us down. I walk her over to another sandy area, and somebody has made a huge sand scuplture of a breech-loading cannon. I look into the breech and it's huge on the inside. Theres a big sandy room, and a sandy box. The lid opens and a flat thing like an ironing board top rises out, doing a little swaying dance. It's has a mirror imbedded in it, and I'm suspicious. I tell the little girl not to look into the mirror, but I see she's doing just that. I yank her away and march her over to the river bank. "When I tell you to do something you DO it! Understand? I'm not fooling around. This is life or death!" Now it's TWO little girls, and they are really brats. One of them falls into the river, which is now a concrete aquaduct. I yell for the guys to come help, and then jump in after her. We finally round up the little monster, and when I have the girls together I crack their heads together to try to get their attention. I think they are totally evil and I wish they'd go away. I'm never going to get my bath!
The dream shifts and now I'm on the set of LotR, helping Liv Tyler get ready for a scene on horseback. She's wearing a white wool gown with voluminous skirts, and she's having trouble getting seated on her horse. I climb up (on a ladder or stool, I guess) and tell her to just stand on the horse's back. I arrange the skirts and then set her down on the saddle pad (no saddle). When I step away she's now wearing a purple dress with an improbably ruffle at the hem, and purple leather pants. She asks for her "boots", and they bring some wicker things that look like stirrups, which she puts her feet into and into the stirrups on the pad/saddle.
Later, I'm on a large boat in Miller Bay with Gordon and Cheryl. I look at the clouds and parallel rays of sunshine are beaming down on the area just North of Ballard. I point it out to Gordon, but by the time he looks the rays have shifted. All kinds of crazy things are developing in the sky. Now a beam of light is shining straight down on Seattle, only there's a cone of darkness in the center. In the sky a vortex is forming like a small hurricane ring, only flat. There are super high cirrus clouds, thin and wispy, and they start to form lines like spider webs. There are points of light at the junctions. Some major UFO action here. I suggest we fire up the engines and get moving. Gordon just cranks the throttle and we start barreling around the bay! "We're dragging the anchor!" I yell. Sure enough, a huge navy anchor is trailing behind us, bouncing off of the beach, people's fences, etc. I throttle down to idle so we can winch it in. On the foredeck is a tiny danforth and some chain. "We're not done, folks, we still have to pull up the navy anchor." I start the winch, and when I see the anchor I try to slow it down or stop it, but I can't find the "stop" button. Gordon and Cheryl are no help at all.
